The Hundreds x Special Blend and Forum - LA boys doin it big

I peeped these Hundreds collabos the other day and I thought they were worth talking about.  A while back I wrote about the Rogue Status x Arbor snowboard collab and The Hundreds have followed suit with some very nice work of their own.

Here’s a shot of one of the Forum boards (images: The Hundreds):

I’m impressed with what I see.  More so with the expansion of TH than anything else.  They’ve truly grown from a local crew to a global brand.  That takes a ton of heart and dedication and they’ve really exemplified that.  Big ups.

Here’s a couple shots of the Special Blend snow apparel collab.  Click the pics to see more (images: The Hundreds):

Props to TH for doin it big.  The slopes are a fashion show these days.  Like a nightclub on snow.  Everyone is rocking fly gear and TH now have a unique and flashy presence on a multi-billion dollar industry.

Estate LA x TARGET?!?!

Crazy!

Courtesy of Strictly Fitteds:

You know streetwear is dead when you see this!  I’m really not hating on anyone here.  Target can do whatever they want and Estate LA should get that pay day.  I’m just saying that what used to be this subtle counter culture that I loved officially no longer exists.

CHILDREN kicks it into high gear. Bringing it to that next level.

HELLO!

Things have been slow around here, what with day jobs and families and what not.  But CHILDREN is making big moves and has brought on it’s first employee/partner: Bryan Davidson.  Bryan was head honcho over at FUCT under the famous Eric Brunetti around the turn of the millennium.  Bryan helped build FUCT and knows the game.  CHILDREN is way stoked to have him on board.

Big moves, new designs and positivity abound.  That was corny, sorry.

So stay tuned for regular posts!

PEACE!

BAPE x Birkenstock. This whole collabo thing has officially gone too far

Birkenstock must be STOKED!  I haven’t seen anyone rockin the Birks since highschool.  Deadheads are all but extinct and with them went Birkenstock’s sales.  I really don’t know who buys BAPE stuff, either.  I guess it’s the Japanese, I mean someone is keeping them financially solvent.  But together they’re a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Courtesy of freshnessmag, here is the latest collabo to grace our streetwear loving hearts:

4 different shades of camo will surely let you turn these hippie wardrobe staples into the item that ties together any streetwear outfit.

It’s amazing, really.  What’s next?  I’m just waiting for that Alife x Speedo.

I guess I’ll file this one under sneakers?

LEADERS x New Era x Hot Lava x Canon Cameras x 90s tennis star

It sounds like I’m dissing, but I dig this hat:

I think that’s because I actually PLAYED tennis in 1990, or whatever it was, when the Andre Agassi Nike Air Tech Challenge IIs came out.  I owned those shoes like the OG tennis player I am.  I had the little white shorts and everything.  WHAT?!?!?

Now I think what I’m seeing here is a nice little reference to Agassi’s sponsorship deal with Canon, the camera company, back in the day.  Their popular SLR camera was and is known as the “Rebel” and Andre was the face of their ad campaign for a while.  The “Rebel” on the hat here is the same typeface as the one Canon uses.

Pritty, pritty, pritty good.

Check the awesome commercial from ‘91:

It’s funny to see all the hype around an actual TENNIS shoe.  I mean at least some people in the streetwear scene actually play basketball, so at least there’s some connection with Jordans.  And I think I’ve even seen some sneakerheads on a skateboard… but none of them play tennis.  Biters.

Starks Laces - customize our kicks without a sharpie

I just learned about Starks Laces and they’ve got a good idea going.

With the homogenization and mass-availability of streetwear and kicks, it’s hard to look original anymore.  Well here is one more accessory you can add to your ‘drobe to kick it up a notch.  Starks Laces, available in a slew of styles.  Here’s a few:

quake blue for HUF:

tiger stripe camo:

classic tennis:

They’ve got a few collaboration laces with HUF and a bunch of other designs.  Before this, custom laces were pretty much limited to pink skulls, Care Bears and checkers from Hot Topic.  Starks is definitely a welcome addition.

Of course, like any flossy new accessory, kids are gonna go crazy with the Starks.  Matching them, or mismatching them with their fitted caps and purple and green tee shirts.  Done in moderation though, I think these laces could be hot.  Especially when someone else is rockin your same shoes.

My favorite is the pair with the Tribe Called Quest “Low End Theory”, red and green stripes.  You can see those here.
